Competitive Rowing
(Junior Performance Program)
- Eligibility: Athletes ages 12–18 interested in training for competitive rowing and regattas.
- Pathway Progression:Based on LTAD stages, advancing from “Train to Train” to “Learn to Compete.”
- Training Intensity: Up to six coached sessions per week, focusing on endurance, strength, and technique.
- Racing Opportunities:Athletes compete in age-specific events at local, regional, and national regattas.
- Equipment & Boats: Training includes racing shells such as singles, doubles, quads, and eights to prepare for competition.
- Commitment Expectation: More frequent attendance is encouraged for competitive rowers to maximize progress.
- Selection Process:Performance athletes are identified and placed in competitive groups by the coaching staff.
Next Steps: Athletes may advance to higher levels of competition within the Edmonton Rowing Club and beyond.

Regattas
The ERC primarily competes and participates in regattas located in the Prairie provinces. We do attend regattas in British Columbia and have attended the Royal Canadian Henley regatta in St. Catharines, Ontario. ERC Junior rowers have also competed at the Provincial level in the Western Canada Summer Games, the Canada Summer Games and the National Rowing Championships.

Competitive Under 23 (18+)
(April 1 – Aug 31)
Eligibility: Open to all competitive rowers, ages 18+.
Training Schedule: Minimum of 6 practices per week, with sessions held in the mornings and afternoons.
Fees: $635 + RCA/ARA insurance (paid once per year, if not already covered).
Competition: Athletes race 2000m and compete in provincial regattas (e.g., Alberta Open) and select interprovincial events (e.g., NWIRA, Royal Canadian Henley).
Additional Commitment: Members must complete 2 bingo volunteer shifts and 20 hours of club support (e.g., dock moving, event assistance).


Competitive Masters (21+)
Eligibility:Experienced rowers, ages 21+.
Training Schedule: Recommended 4–5+ practices per week to build crew compatibility and performance.
Fees: $1,000 + RCA/ARA insurance (paid once per year, if not already covered).
Competition: Crews train for and compete in multiple races from June to October.
Additional Commitment: Members must complete 2 bingo volunteer shifts and 20 hours of club support (e.g., dock moving, event assistance).
